Kalkidan is a sub-specialist in endocrinology and metabolism with over 10 years’ experience working in both private and government health institutions.  She is an experienced leader and has served in various managerial roles including director of the emergency department and director of inpatient services. She has established a gestational DM as well as collaborative diabetic foot ulcer clinic within ALERT hospital. She is founder and previous secretary of the Ethiopian Medical Women’s Association.
